Sedation Dentistry Oral sedation option

If you choose to do oral sedation, you take a small pill one hour prior to your dental visit to calm nerves, because of this you will need someone to drive you to your appointment as well as home from your appointment.

Upon arrival in our office one of our highly trained assistants will make sure you are comfortable in one of our sedation chairs with a blanket and headphones.

Once we have taken your vital signs we will administer more medication that will help your body relax to a sleepy state and at that time we can complete the dental treatment that is needed. When you wake up we will give your companion/friend, that is driving you, post-op instructions and make sure you are comfortable in the passenger seat of their car. You will have little or no memory of the experience.

Once home from your sedation appointment, you will need to make sure you drink lots of fluids to stay hydrated. Most of our sedation patients are relaxed and napping for a good portion of the remainder of the day.

The oral sedation medications Dental TLC uses take 45 minutes to an hour to absorb into your system. We allow you to relax during this time while you watch some TV or listen to some of our eclectic music.
